ODU Travels To No. 30 ECU Tuesday Night

NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Monarchs (26-22) return to action Tuesday night in Greenville, NC when they take on 30th ranked East Carolina (34-17) at 6 p.m. Thetwo teams were rained out in a game scheduled at ODU back on April 27th.

ECU is led by Phillip Clark with a .339 batting average. Trent Whitehead is secondat .325. Zach Wright leads the Pirates with 12 homers along with 35 RBI and Corey Thompson also has 35 RBI.

On the mound, Brad Mincey is 5-2 with a 0.85 ERA, folloed by Seth Maness with a 7-3record and a 2.22 ERA. Righthander Zach Woods (2-2) with start against the Monarchs. The Pirates lead the series 41-28. ODU's last win over ECU was in 2002 with a 9-6 victory in Greenville on a conplete game from then freshman Justin Verlander.

The Monarchs along with JMU are tied for first in the CAA and have both clincheda spot in the CAA Baseball Championships May 26-28 at UNC Wilmington.

Josh Wright is hitting .373 with 12 homers and 40 RBI and a .717 slugging percentage, while Nathan Hartman is at .304 with five homers and 31 RBI. Firstbaseman Chris Baker is hitting .278 with seven homers and a team best 50RBI.

Freshman reliever Dean Ali has the best ERA at 2.34, while Kyle Hald is at 8-2 with 96 strikeouts in 82.2 innings of work. Both Ben Tomchick and Phil McCarthy are7-4, while reliever Adam Wisniewski leads the CAA with 13 saves. ODU will throw Louis Singleton against ECU.

After the ECU contest, the Monarchs finish up the regular season with a three-gameCAA series in Hempstead, NY against Hofstra on Friday with a single game and thena doubleheader on Saturday.
