Monarchs Host George Mason In Three-Game CAA Series

NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Monarchs open a three-game series against the Patriots ofGeorge Mason beginning Friday at 7 p.m. at the ODU Bud Metheny Baseball Complex.Fans can follow the game on audio/videostreaming (free of charge on ODU All Access) as well as gametracker.

Josh Wright continues to lead the Monarchs with a .338 batting average along with10 homers, 32 RBI and 35 runs scored. His slugging percentage is .715. Juniorfirstbaseman Chris Baker is hitting .295 with six homers and a team best 37 RBI. Baker also leads the team with 15 doubles. Senior rightfielder Nathan Hartmanis hitting .281 with 23 RBI.

On the mound, Kyle Hald is 6-2 with a 2.53 ERA and is scheduled to pitch on Friday. Hald leads the CA wiht 78 strikeouts in 64 innings of work. Ben Tomchick is 5-4with a 3.42 ERA, while Phil McCarthy is 5-3 with a 4.03 ERA.

Senior righthander Adam Wisniewski leads the CAA with 10 saves, while freshmanreliever righthander Dean Ali leads the CAA with a 2.09 ERA.

The Patriots are led by Dan Schafferman at .390 with 31 RBI, while Tison Brigis hitting .373 with 32 RBI. Firstbaseman Zack Helgeson leads the team with 11homers and 35 RBI.

Mason is scheduled to throw TJ O'Grady (RHP), 2-2 ,4.33; AJ Johnson (RHP), 2-4, 3.60; and Ryan Pfaeffle (RHP), 3-3, 6.52

Last year, ODU won two of the three games in Fairfax. ODU leads the overall series,38-37.
