NORFOLK, Va. - NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University men's tennis had to wait an extra hour, but the Monarchs handled Hofstra 7-0 in their final regular season match of the season at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Facility Sunday night. The match was delayed an hour due to Hofstra's flight being delayed.
The Monarchs didn't waist any time jumping on the Pride in doubles, as Albert Ochagavia and Alfredo Rodriguez cruised to an 8-1 win at No. 3. Fahoum Fahoum and Clay Cypert were solid with an 8-3 win at No. 2 and Benjamin Chomette and Tobias Fanselow won 8-7 (7-5) at the No. 1 spot.
ODU was just as solid in singles play, not going to three sets in any match.
Cypert cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles while Chomette delivered a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2.
Ochagavia was solid in a 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 while Fanselow won a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 1.
Fahoum put together a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 4 and Rodriguez completed the sweep with a 6-2, 7-5 triumph at No. 5.
The women's match was postponed until Wednesday at 11 a.m. due to travel issues.
