Monarchs Travel to JMU For Three-Game CAA Series

NORFOLK, VA-- The Baseball Monarchs (10-13/3-3) hit the road to Harrisonburg, VA. to take on James Madison (17-5/7-2) in a three-game CAA series beginning Friday at 4 p.m.at Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park.

JMU is the CAA's top hitting team with a .351 batting average with 41 homers and 239 runs scored. David Herbek and Jake Lowery lead the CAA with nine homeruns each,while Lowery (30), Johnny Bladel (27), Herbek(25) and Bradley Shaban (25) are thetop scorers in the CAA. Bladel also leads the league in stolen bases with 12.

ODU will feature the CAA's second best pitching staff with a 3.93 earned run averageand a league best 168 strikeouts in 206 innings. Georgia State leads the CAA with a3.53 ERA.

ODU's Ben Tomchick is second in the CAA with a 4-1 record and second with a 1.95ERA. Kyle Hald is third in the CAA with a 2.00 ERA and leads the league in strikeouts with 41 in 36 innings. Freshman Dean Ali also has a 2.00 ERA and Phil McCarthy is seventh in the CAA wiht a 2.73 ERA. In the bullpen, Adam Wisniewski ranks second in the CAA with four saves.

Chris Baker is tied with Towson's Chris Wychock for the CAA lead with 10 doubles,and he along with Josh Wright are tied for third in the CAA with five homers.Baker also ranks third in the CAA with 56 total bases.

JMU is scheduled to throw Evan Scott, Alex Valadja and D.J. Brown this weekend,while ODU will again go with Kyle Hald, Ben Tomchick and Phil McCarthy.

Saturday's game will be at 2 p.m. and Sunday's game will start at 1 p.m.
