NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Monarchs open up CAA play this weekend when they host theTribe of the College of William and Mary. Friday's game at the Bud MethenyBaseball Complex begins at 5 p.m. Saturday will be at 2 p.m. and Sunday is at 1.The contest will be video streamed on ODU All-Acces.
Friday's matchup between ODU's Kyle Hald and W&M's Matt Davenport will be a battlebetween the CAA's best. Both were first team All-CAA last year and are pre-seasonAll-CAA selections.
Hald is currently 2-0 with a 0.41 earned run average. He has 27 strikeouts in just22 innings of work. Hald was CAA co-Pitcher of the Week last week. Junior righthander Ben Tomchick will throw on Saturday for ODU. Tomchick is 2-1 with a 1.96 ERA. Phil McCarthy is 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA and two complete games will pitchon Sunday.
Last year, W&M swept the three-game series in Williamsburg. ODU leads the series,72-47.
Chris Baker is the Monarchs top hitter at .339 with four homers and 17 RBI. BrentFrazier is second at .300. Derrick Osteen leads W&M in hitting at .341, whileRyan Williams is hitting .309 with two homers and 11 RBI for the Tribe.
