NORFOLK, Va. - Albert Ochagavia came back from a 3-0 deficit in the third set to win and give Old Dominion University men's tennis a thrilling 4-3 victory over George Washington Friday at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.
Ochagavia won the first set over Erik Hannah, 6-3, but dropped the second set 6-4. Ochagavia dropped the first three games in the third set, before rallying to win the next five games. He lost the next game but put Hannah away on his serve to take the 6-3 win and give ODU the team win.
Tobias Fanselow gave ODU its first singles win with a dominant 6-2, 6-3 win over Ugur Atalay.
The Colonials won the doubles point by winning all three matches. Krzysztof Muzalewski came up with a 7-6, 6-4 win at the No. 3 spot and Benjamin Chomette delivered a 7-6, 6-4 win over Alexander Van Gils.
George Washington earned the doubles point and picked up wins by Viktor Svensson and Ulrik Thomsen at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively.
The Monarchs are back in action tomorrow morning as they face Winthrop at 10 a.m. The Lady Monarchs are also in action tomorrow as they take on No. 63 Winthrop, also at 10 a.m.
