NORFOLK, VA--The ODU Baseball Monarchs travel to Charleston, SC. to play in the Homewood SuitesShootout this weekend. ODU opens play Friday at noon against Wright State. Host school The Citadel is also in the event.
Throught five games Chris Baker leads the eam with a .450 batting average, followedby Kenny Stoneback at .429 and Brent Frazier at .421. Baker has knocked in 10RBI with two homes and three triples. Baker and Donnie Corsner both lead in runsscored with six each. Baker is currently tied with Ronnie Baker of Kennesaw Statefor the national lead with a 33 game hitting streak.
On the mound, senior lefthander Kyle Hald (0-0) has a 0.00 ERA with eight strikeouts in seven innings of work. Freshman Ben Verlander, junior Mike Ney andjunior Ben Tomchick are all 1-0 thus far. Senior Adam Wisniewski also has a 0.00ERA along with a team best two saves.
The Moanrchs are scheduled to throw Kyle Hald Friday in game one against Wright State and Ben Tomchick against Wright State on Saturday.
