NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion men's and women's swimming and diving team will host the N.C. State Wolfpack in their final meet prior to the Colonial Athletic Association Championships on Saturday, January 29th at noon at the J.C. "Scrap" Chandler Pool in the Student Recreation Center.
The ODU women enter Saturday's meet with the Wolfpack at 8-4 overall having picked up three wins - American (225-60), George Mason (177-121), and Amry (203-95) - last weekend. The Lady Monarchs were victorious in nine events with freshman Malin Ekstrand (Halmstad, Sweden) leading the way with three victories - one individual and a pair with the relay squads.
The ODU men, meanwhile, enter competition at 6-2 overall after defeating American (254-38) and CAA rival George Mason (173.5-126.5), but falling to Army (156-144) to last week. The Monarchs collected five first place finishes on the day led by junior and CAA Men's Swimmer of the Week Arni Arnason (Mosfellsbaer, Iceland) with three individual wins and a relay victory.
The N.C. State women's squad comes to Old Dominion with a 6-2 mark, which included a 3-2 record in ACC competition. The Wolfpack men enter Saturday with a 5-2 overall record and 3-2 conference mark.
During the meet, nine Monarch seniors will be honored as they compete in their home meet of their careers. The nine Monarch seniors are: April Barrientos (Va. Beach, Va.), Lauren Fiskus (Yorktown, Va.), Kris Hagg (Skovde, Sweden), Lauren Johnson (Baltimore, Md.), Josh Kinas (Reston, Va.), Allyson Nold (Waterloo, Ill.), Mikael Ramkvist (Bjarred, Sweden), David Skorupa (Richmond, Va.), and Ryan Peart (Fort Washington, Pa.).
