BOSTON, Mass. - The Old Dominion field hockey team will open Colonial Athletic Association and face another ranked non-conference opponent as the Lady Monarchs make a weekend trip up to Boston, Mass.

ODU, which was ranked No. 14 in the season's first NCAA Field Hockey RPI, will begin CAA competition on Friday with a 2 p.m. matchup against Northeastern. Then on Sunday, the Lady Monarchs will battle No. 11 Boston University at 1 p.m.

Old Dominion (2-6) split a pair of contests during its trip to Tobacco Road last week. Junior keeper Devon Seifert shined in the cage for the Lady Monarchs, who held No. 1 North Carolina to its smallest margin of victory and lowest goal total of the season in their 3-1 loss to the Tar Heels. ODU carried that momentum into Sunday, as senior midfielder Loran Hatch netted the game-winning goal to lead the Lady Monarchs past ninth-ranked Duke, 2-1.

Seifert was honored as the CAA Player of the Week after her stellar performances.

Northeastern improved its record to 4-4 Wednesday with a 4-0 shutout win at Harvard. Junior forward Carolyn Malloy paced the team with two goals and an assist in the win.

Boston University is currently ranked No. 11 in the NFHCA poll and its RPI sits at eighth in the country. The coaches poll ranking is the highest ever for the 6-2 Terriers.

Old Dominion is a perfect 12-0 all-time against Boston University and holds an 18-2-1 record against Northeastern. The Lady Monarchs topped both squads in Norfolk last season.
