NORFOLK, Va. -- Year two of ODU football got underway on Sunday as 89 Monarchs reported to camp.
The members of the ODU roster were on campus by mid-afternoon checking-in with the football office and at their dorms, while family members had the opportunity to tour the facilities at both the Powhatan Sports Complex and Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium.
After checking in, the 89 Monarchs spent the rest of Sunday afternoon and evening meeting with their coaches and reviewing compliance information and other protocols.
The 89 Monarchs reporting to camp included 13 offensive linemen, four quarterbacks, seven running backs, 12 wide receivers, three tight ends, seven defensive tackles, eight defensive ends, 15 linebackers, seven cornerbacks, six safeties, three punters, and a pair of kickers and long snappers.
Practice gets under way on Monday afternoon. Please note that practices are closed to the public. In all, the Monarchs will hold 22 workouts before classes officially begin on August 30th.
The second season of ODU Football kicks off on Saturday, September 4th against Jacksonville at 6:00 p.m. at Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium. The game will be a rematch of the Monarchs' first FCS contest where Dorian Jackson's (Colonial Heights, Va.) 32-yard reception with 45 seconds remaining gave the Monarchs a 28-27 come-from-behind victory in their first-ever road contest.
