NORFOLK, VA--Matt Browning had four hits and knocked in two runs as the Dukes of JamesMadison (14-12/5-3) defeated Old Dominion (13-18/2-3), 7-5 Saturday afternoon at theBud Metheny Complex.
Trailing, 7-0, ODU rallied for five runs in the fifth inning. Chris Baker(Chesapeake, Va.) singled inNathan Hartman (Orlando, Fl.) and Chris Buss (Rosemount, MN.). Kenny Stoneback (Colonial Heights, VA.) then singled home Josh Wright(Bridgewater, Va.) and Jake McAloose (Virginia Beach, Va.)singled in both Stoneback and Baker. Baker has now knocked in six runs this week.
D.J. brown picked up his second win of the year for JMU, but need relief help from James Weiner and Kevin Munson. Munson picked up his fifth save of the season as he pitched two-plus scorless innings with two strikeouts.
The Dukes were led in hitting by Matt Browning who had four hits which include a two-out firstInning homer and a RBI single in the third inning. JMU catcher Jake Lowery had three hits and knocked in two runs.
Josh Wright led ODU with two hits, while Chris Baker and Jake McAloose each knocked in two runs.Sophomore righthander Brandon Smith (Chesapeake, Va.) pitched four-plus innings of shutout relief allowing just three hits and striking out three.
The third and final game of the CAA series is Sunday at 2 p.m.
