NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion men's tennis team improved to 14-8 overall and 2-3 in the CAA with a 5-2 victory over the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens on Wednesday. After dropping all three doubles matches, the Monarchs went on to win five of the six singles matches for the victory.
Junior Tobias Fanselow (Essen, Germany) battled back after dropping his first set, to win 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. He dropped Delaware's top player Austin Longacre for his 19th win at the top flight in duals this season. He improved to 19-3 in duals and 22-9 overall this season.
Benjamin Chomette (St. Didier en Velay, France) won in straight sets at No. 2 singles, defeating Gokay Celik by a final score of 6-4, 7-5, and Yakov Diskin (Yorktown, Va.) ended an 8-match losing streak with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Courtney Scott at No. 3.
Krzysztof Muzalewski and Albert Ochagavia finished out the win with a pair of victories at No. 4 and 5, improving Old Dominion to 2-3 in their conference finale. The Monarchs will play two more matches (vs. DePaul on April 9 and vs. South Alabama on April 10) before the CAA Tournament begins on April 15.
