Wolfpack Defeats Monarchs, 7-3

RALEIGH, NC--The North Carolina State Wolfpack defeated Old Dominion Wednesday night,7-3 with the help from two homeruns from Kyle Wilson.

Sophomore firstbaseman Chris Baker (Chesapeake, Va.) knocked in two runs for ODU and designated hitter Brett Harris (Chesapeake, Va.) knocked in the other.

With NC State leading, 3-0, ODU tied the game in the fourth. A Harris ground out plated catcher EdgarHernandez from third for the first run. Chris Baker then doubled In Nate Hartman and Chris Bussto tie the game at 3-3.

The Wolfpack re-took the lead in the sixth on a two-run homer by center fielder KyleWilson. In the seventh, pinch hitter Matt Bergquist doubled in thirdbaseman Andrew Ciencin and Bergquist to make it 7-3.

NC State had 13 hits led by Dallas Poulk with three, while Kyle Wilson knocked in three runs withThe help of two homers. He also hit a solo homer in the third inning, then Pratt Maynard followedwith a two-run shot.

NC State threw five pitchers with Danny Healey picking up the win. C.J. Huyett took the lossfor ODU as he fanned six with four walks and five runs.

The Monarchs return home for a three-game CAA series against the Dukes of James Madison,beginning Friday night at 7 p.m. in the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex.
