CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The ICSA Singlehanded National Championships concluded Sunday afternoon and Old Dominion placed two sailors in the Top-10. Although both sailors gained on the leader during the final day of competition, Morgan Wilson finished fifth and Katrina Williams ended in eighth.
Only two races were sailed during the final day of competition with Wilson garnering a fifth and sixth place finish and Williams posting second and ninth place results.
Boston College's Anne Haeger, the leader after the second day, lost ground on the field but managed to maintain her lead and win the national title. Haeger totaled 67 points, edging out Yale's Claire Dennis by six points.
In total, Wilson had 11 top-five finishes in 18 races. The fifth place finish is the juniors best ever after claiming ninth and 11th in her first two championships.
Williams, who placed as high as third in her two prior championships, had 13 top-10 finishes this year in 18 races.
In other ODU sailing action this weekend, the Lady Monarchs claimed second at the MAISA Fall Women's Championships.
Nine races were sailed in each division and conditions were good on the Elizabeth River. Hobart & William Smith won the nine-team regatta with 48 points, edging the Monarchs by 11.
The ODU trio of Stephanie Roble, Ashley Pellerito and Ashley Brusso won the A-Division with 22 points. St. Mary's claimed second with 26.
Hobart & William Smith controlled the B Division, topping Navy by 20 points. Arianna Baker, Shannon Wilkins and Jordan Stock led the Lady Monarchs to a third place finish in the B Division.
