ODU Rallies To Defeat W&M, 6-4 On A Chris Buss Double

NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion (18-22/10-8) rallied for three runs in the eighth inning todefeat William and Mary (18-22/7-11), 6-4 Sunday in Colonial Athletic Association baseball action. ODU takes the series,two games to one, and have now won three of their last four CAA series.

Trailing, 4-3 in the eighth, junior second baseman Chris Buss (Rosemont, MN.) doubled homeDonnie Corsner (Virginia Beach, VA.) and Brett Harris (Chesapeake, VA.) to give the Monarchs a 5-4 lead.Shortstop Gerard Hall (Washington, DC.) then singled home Chris Buss to make it, 6-4.

In the fifth, with W&M leading, 3-0 the Monarchs came back to tie the game when senior centerfielder Max Most (Port Washington, NY.)doubled home Chris Buss and Cameron Scott (Culpeper, VA.). Hallthen singled home Most to make it, 3-3.

The Tribe's three runs in the fourth came on an RBI single by Derrick Osteen which plated Jeff Jones.Tadd Bower followed with a single to score Osteen, and Chris Forsten's sacrifice fly plated Rob Nickle. The Tribe scored in the eighth to re-takethe lead at 4-3 when Tyler Truxell scored from third on a bases loaded wild pitch.

Gerard Hall led ODU with three hits and two RBI, while Max Most and Chris Buss each knocked intwo runs. Donnie Corsner and Buss both had two hits as well.

Junior righthander Chris Boggs (Manassas, Va.) picked up the win in relief, his fifth of the seasonwithout a loss. He leads the CAA with a 2.55 earned run average. ODU starter, freshman Ben Tomchick,(Virginia Beach, Va. ) pitched seven plus innings with one walk, six strikeouts and four runs allowed. He is second in the CAA with a 2.96 ERA.

ODU breaks for exams until May 6th when they host Longwood.
