Nichols and Sensenig To Compete For USA Field Hockey In Champions Challenge

RICHMOND, VA--Old Dominion University senior field hockey player Dana Sensenig (Denver, PA.) has been chosen CAA Top Scholar Athlete for field hockey. Sheis one of six fall student-athletes honored by the league who were both outstanding on thefield and in the classroom.

Joining Sensenig with CAA Scholar-Athlete Awards in the fall sports were:Keith Bechtol of William and Mary (men's cross country), Meghan Bishop of Williamand Mary (women's cross country), Matt Haney of Delaware (men's soccer), SueWeber of Hofstra (women's soccer) and Ludmila francescatto of VCU for volleyball.

Sensenig carries a 3.85 grade point average in physical education. She is a three-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Academic squad. Sensenig helpedlead the Lady Monarchs to first place in the CAA regular season, the CAA finals an at- large bid to the NCAA tournament. ODU finished the season at 19-4.

On the field, Sensenig earned third team All-American honors by the NFHCA and first team All-American honors by Women's Field Hockey.com. She was a first teamAll-South Region and All-CAA selection and CAA All-Tournament selection. Sensenigled ODU with 56 points from a team leading 20 goals, and 16 assists. She concluded hercareer at ODU tied for eighth on the school's all-time points list with 171. She rankedeighth nationally in both points (2.43) and assists (0.70) and led the nation in penalty strokes with five.
