VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The second seeded Dukes of James Madison upset top seeded Old Dominion, 1-0, in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Tournament final on Sunday afternoon at the National Training Center. The Dukes receive the CAA's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, while the Lady Monarchs, the only team to have appeared in all 25 previous tournament, will most likely receive an at-large bid on Tuesday when the 16-team bracket is announced at 7:30 p.m. on CSTV.

Old Dominion outshot James Madison, 23-1, and outcornered the Dukes, 21-1, but it was only one shot the Dukes needed to defeat the third-ranked Lady Monarchs. With 12:52 left in the first half, JMU's Melissa Walls was awarded a penalty stroke and managed to find the back of the Old Dominion cage for the lone goal of the afternoon.

The Lady Monarch offense kept pressure the entire game on the Duke cage, but JMU's Kelsey Cutchins made an astonishing 14 saves in goal, including stopping a penalty stroke by senior midfielder Dana Sensenig (Denver, Pa.) with just under 20 minutes remaining in regulation.

Sensenig was named to the CAA All-Tournament team along with fellow classmate and CAA Player and Defender of the Year Caroline Nichols (Va. Beach, Va.) and sophomore midfielder Denise Admiraal (Heillo, Holland).
