Field Hockey Polls Stay The Same - Lady Monarchs Third In STX/NFHCA Poll, Second In Women's Field Hockey.Com Poll

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion field hockey team is still ranked third in the STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Poll and second in the Women's Field Hockey.com Poll after a 1-0 loss to top-ranked Maryland and a 1-0 victory over #4 Duke last week.

Maryland, who is the only team to defeat the Lady Monarchs this season, remains a top the STX/NFHCA poll followed by Wake Forest. After Old Dominion, Duke remained in fourth, followed by No. 5 Ohio State, No. 6 Boston College, and No. 7 North Carolina. Penn State and Connecticut rounded out the top ten.

As for the CAA, James Madison is ranked 16th this weekand Hofstra moved to No. 20. William & Mary is receiving votes.

In the Women's Field Hockey.Com Poll, Maryland also tops the poll. Wake Forest is third, followed by No. 4 Duke, and No. 5 Boston College. Upcoming ODU opponent North Carolina was ranked ninth. Previous opponents, No. 7 Virginia and No. 8 Penn State, were also among the top ten.

Three CAA schools were also ranked in the top 20 of the Women's Field Hockey.com Poll in No. 16 James Madison, No. 18 Hofstra, and No. 19 William & Mary.

In the national stats, senior midfielder Dana Sensenig (Denver, Pa.) is ranked in four categories. Sensenig is 13th in points per game (2.31), 15th in goals per game (0.88), 33rd in assists per game (0.56), and remains the leader in penalty strokes. Also ranked is redshirt freshman goalkeeper Kelly Driscoll (West Chester, Pa.). Driscoll remains the Division I leader in goals against average (0.61) and is third in save percentage (.815).

In CAA stats, Sensenig leads the league in points (37) and points per game (2.31) and is tied for first in goals (1.00). The senior midfielder is also second in goals per game (0.88) and assists (9), and third in assists per game (0.56). Also among the leaders in the conference's stat sheet are sophomore midfielder Denise Admiraal (Heillo, Holland) and senior forward Darcy Pinchbeck (Suffolk, Va.). Admiraal is tied for ninth in points (18), tied for fourth in goals (8), and tied for sixth in goals per game (0.50). Pinchbeck is tied for eighth in goals (7). In goalkeeping stats, Driscoll continues to lead the CAA in shutouts, goals against average (0.61), and save percentage (.815).

The Lady Monarchs return to CAA action next weekend, the second to last week of the regular season. Old Dominion hosts Northeastern on Saturday, October 21st and No. 20 Hofstra on Sunday, October 22nd. Both games begin at 1:00 p.m. at Foreman Field.
