Northeastern Defeats ODU, 7-5

NORFOLK, VA--Mike Tamsin knocked in three runs and Chris Emanuelescored three times to lead Northeastern (15-14/9-6) to a 7-5 victory over #15/17 OldDominion (33-6/16-2) Sunday afternoon. The loss was ODU freshman Dan Hudson's(Virginia Bach, VA.) first of the year. He was CAA Rookie of The Weekearlier this week.

NU took a 2-0 lead in the first as Tamsin's sacrifice fly scored Emanuele,then Josh Porter doubled home Brian Nutting. ODU came back with a run in thesecond when Bryan Cipolla (Plain View, NY.) scored on Justin Gregula's single. In the third ODU scored three runs as Patrick Nichols (Chesapeake, VA.) singled in Mike Zahm (Omaha, NE.), and Keith Hahn's (Valley Stream, NY.) bloop single over third plated Nichols and Dana Arrowood (Woodbridge, VA.).

Northeastern took the lead for good in the fifth with four runs. Chris Emanuelesingled home Arman Sidhu, then Brian Nutting singled in Dan Milano. Tamsin singled home Emanuele, and Nutting scored on Matt Morizio's groundout.

The Monarchs Keith singled home Patrick Nichols in the fifth for ODU's finalrun. The Huskies scored one more in the seventh as Tamsin singled home Emanuele.

Kris Dabrowiecki picked up the victory as he pitched seven innings, striking out six, and walking four. Matt Morizio finished the last two innings for his fifth save ofthe year. ODU had ten hits led by Keith Hahn with two and three runs batted in.Patrick Nichols, Justin Gregula and Mike Zahm each had two hits on the day as well.Chris Emanuele led NU with three hits, while Brian Nutting, Mike Tamsin and Dan Milano had two hits.

ODU travels to crosstown rival Norfolk State on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. game.
