BOSTON, Mass. -- Although the 13th-ranked Northeastern Huskies struck first, the seventh-ranked Old Dominion field hockey team rattled off three late goals within a six minute span for the 3-1 victory at Sweeney Field on Friday afternoon.

The win leaves the Lady Monarchs alone atop the CAA standings as the last undefeated team in the league with a 6-0 mark. Overall, Old Dominion improved to 12-5. Northeastern meanwhile fell to 13-4 overall and suffer its first CAA loss, falling to 4-1.

The Huskies took a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute of action as Jay Quinn managed to find her way to the back of the Old Dominion net after a penalty corner opportunity. However, it would Northeastern's only goal of the afternoon.

Senior Anna Rogers (New Bloomfield, Pa.) put the Lady Monarchs onto the scoreboard at the 53rd minute and within the next six minutes, Old Dominion would claim the lead and add an insurance goal.

Two minutes after Rogers' tally, junior midfielder Dana Sensenig (Denver, Pa.) scored the game-winner from a feed by freshman Denise Admiraal (Heiloo, Holland). Four minutes later at the 59th minute of play, the Lady Monarch duo teamed again to put Old Dominion up 3-1.

Old Dominion outshot the CAA newcomer, 17-10. While both teams were evenly matched in the first half with the Lady Monarchs taking nine shots and the Huskies firing away eight, the second half saw Old Dominion outshoot its opponent, 8-2.

Both teams were even in penalty corner department, both taking six attempts.

In net, Mary Cate Gordon (Oreland, Pa.) made three stops, while Colleen Duffy recorded a career-high nine stops in the loss.

Old Dominion will return to action on Sunday when they travel to Hofstra.
