NORFOLK, Va. -- The seventh ranked Old Dominion field hockey team heads into a crucial Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) weekend with implications for hosting rights for the upcoming conference tournament. The last two remaining undefeated CAA teams clash on Friday afternoon in Boston as the Lady Monarchs take on CAA newcomer #13 Northeastern. Old Dominion will then travel to Hofstra for a Sunday afternoon showdown.

· The Lady Monarchs went 1-1 last week in a pair of non-conference ACC games.
· Old Dominion scored an upset last Friday night has the defeated then #2 Maryland, 4-1. The Lady Monarchs struck early and never looked back en route to taking a 4-0 lead at the half. Senior Janelle Engle put Old Dominion onto the board right away scoring on a penalty corner a mere 1:05 into the contest, while sophomore Shannon Mobley would tally what would turn out to be the game-winner at the 25th minute as she deflected Engle's shot off another Lady Monarch penalty corner attempt.
· The loss was just the second for the Terps in the 2005 season. Maryland's only other loss has come at the hands of #1 Wake Forest.
· Last Sunday, Old Dominion had its eight-game win streak come to a halt as the squad fell to then #3 Duke, 2-3. The loss, which dropped the Lady Monarchs to 11-5 overall, was ODU's first loss since a September 17th loss at North Carolina. The win streak actually began against the Blue Devils as Old Dominion took the first of a home-and-home series, 5-2.
· Old Dominion has seen it share of ranked competition having play teams ranked two through six in the latest STX/NFHCA Poll released on Tuesday. The Lady Monarchs have picked up five wins over ranked teams and has also earned three victories over foes ranked in the top 10.
· In the national stats, senior Janelle Engle , junior Dana Sensenig, and freshman Denise Admiraal all continue to be ranked in the points category. Sensenig is listed seventh in total points (36) and ninth in points per game (2.25) to lead all Lady Monarch scorers. Engle follows closely at 10th in total points (35) and 13th nationally in points per game (2.19), while Admiraal ranks 13th in points collected (31) and 18th in points per outing (1.94).
· Engle and Admiraal have reach tallied 14 goals through 16 games thus far and are tied for eighth in total goals and 10th in goal per game (0.88).
· Junior Caroline Nichols continues to lead the nation with 16 assists and averages a nation's second-best 1.00 assists per game.

Old Dominion vs. Northeastern All-Time: 10-2-1
· Old Dominion and Northeastern are no strangers to one another having squared off 13 times previously, but this will be the first time the Lady Monarchs and Huskies have taken the turf as conference opponents. This is Northeastern's first year in CAA competition.
· The Huskies saw their 12-game winning streak come to an end after losing to two nationally-ranked opponents last week, No. 14 Connecticut (2-3) and No. 16 Boston College (1-2). It is the first time they have lost two in a row since 2003.
· Junior forward/midfielder Whitney Shean is the Huskies' offensive leader. She leads the CAA with 40 points and 15 goals and ranks fourth in the country in total points and sixth in points per game (2.50). Her 15 tallies ranks her sixth in the country and eighth in goals per contest (0.94).
· Junior midfielder/defender Natalie Singelais is tied for second in the league in assists, behind only Caroline Nichols, the nation's leader in assists. She currently has 14 under her belt.
· Second on the stat sheet are Jay Quinn and Ashely Webber. Quinn, a senior midfielder, and Webber, a sophomore forward, have both accumulated 10 goals and two assists for 22 points. Both are tied for seventh in the conference in points.
· In net, the Lady Monarchs will be looking to get past either Colleen Duffy or Liz Centofanti. Duffy has made 11 appearances with nine starts. She is posting a 1.59 goals against average, .684 save percentage, with 39 saves. Meanwhile Liz Centofanti has made six appearances with five starts. Centofanti is holding a 1.99 goals against average with a.600 save percentage and 15 stops.

· Hofstra will host William & Mary on Friday before hosting the Lady Monarchs on Sunday afternoon.
· The Pride are winners in three of their last four contests. Hofstra lost to Columbia last week, 1-0, Sunday despite allowing only one shot on goal.
· Hofstra's lone CAA loss has come at the hands of CAA newcomer Northeastern.
· The Pride made the finale of last year's CAA tournament upsetting top seeded William & Mary on the Tribe's home turf before falling to Delaware.
· Sophmore midfielder Pemba Ramdoo, a 2004 CAA All-Rookie team selection, leads the Pride with 21 goals from eight goals and five assists. Ramdoo is tied for ninth in the CAA in points.
· Next on the stat sheet is junior midfielder Kara McEneaney with 13 points from four goals and five assists, followed by rookie foreard Brit Blankmeyer with six goals for 12 points. Fellow freshman Charlia Warner has also accumulated 12 points stemming from five goals and two assists.
· In goal, the Pride will look to Jessica Cowperthwait to stop the Lady Monarch offense. Cowperthwait is holding a 1.44 goals against average, a .714 save percentage, and 50 total saves in net. Her goals against average is second in the conference.

NCAA Anniversary Team:
In conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championships, the NCAA has announced the 25th Anniversary Division I Field Hockey Team, which includes former Lady Monarch field hockey legends Marina DiGiacomo, Christy Morgan, and Robin Smith along with veteran head coach Beth Anders.

The Lady Monarchs' regular season comes to a close. Old Dominion hosts North Carolina in the annual scholarship match on Saturday, October 29th. The five dollar admission to benefit the Intercollegiate Foundation for Field Hockey Scholarships. The Lady Monarchs will also honor its seniors prior to the start of the game in their final regular season home contest. The 2005 regular season then comes to a close at William & Mary on Sunday, October 30th. Old Dominion will look to avenge last year's loss to the Tribe which allowed William & Mary the rights to host last year's CAA Tournament.
