NORFOLK, VA.-- The home soccer match between #5 Wake Forest and #6 ODU (NSCAA coaches poll)will be played Sunday at 2 p.m. The match was originally scheduled for tonight, but becauseof Hurricane Isabel, the game was moved.
Saturdays match with Marshall has been cancelled and will not be made up. Both of thesematches were part of the William and Mary Invitational.
ODU is 5-0 and off to it's best start since 1999. This will be the Monarchs third nationallyranked opponent thus far. Two weekend's ago, the Monarchs defeated #5 Stanford and #19California.
Wake Forest is 4-1, having beaten fellow CAA rival George Mason last Wednesday, 2-1. Lastyear, WFU defeated ODU twice, 2-1 in Norfolk and 1-0 in the NCAA second round. The Deaconsare led in s coring by Ryan Alexander and Jeremiah White who both have two goals each.
Eight different Monarchs have scored atleast one goal this year. Senior Attila Vendeghand freshman Kevin McMenamin lead the team with three goals and one assist each. Juniordefender Trevor McEachron has been the CAA Player of the Week each of the last two week'sand was named National Player of the Week by COLLEGE SOCCER NEWS.
