NORFOLK, VA. - Sailing World Magazine ranks Old Dominion's Coed squadnumber one in the nation and the Lady Monarch sailing squad number two nationallyin their poll released today.
The Old Dominion sailing team will be participating in the ICSA Women's, Coed Dinghy and the Team Race National Championships in Hawaii beginning May 28through June 7.
The Women's championships will be May 29-31. The second ranked Lady Monarch squad will consist of Sally Barkow (Nashotah, WI.), Cara gibbons-Neff (Annapolis, MD.), Corrie Clement (Metarie, LA.), Liz Bower (Fairport, NY.) along with alternates Debbie Capozzzi (Bayport, LA.) and Anna Tunnicliffe (Perrysburg, OH.).
The Team Race squad which will compete June 2-4 will consist of Brad Funk(Harbor Bluffs, FL.), Lis Biondi(Norwalk, CT.), Matt Allen (Beverly, MA.), AnnaCobb (Mechanicsville, Va.), Ryan Thorvaldsen (Sayville, NY.), and Megan Bartley (Oak Park, IL.). Jack Kerr (Seattle, WA.), Bill Berg (Longwood, FL.) And DebbieCapozzi are alternates.
The final championship event, the coed dinghy will be held June 5-7. The topranked Monarchs squad will consist of Funk, Biondi, Allen and Cobb with Kerr and Berg as alternates.
Old Dominion has won 11 Collegiate Sailing National Championships since 1982. In the Fall Singlehanded National Championships, held at ODU Brad Funk finished second and Sally Barkow finished third.
