Monarch Sailors Head To Nationals

NORFOLK. VA - The nationally ranked Old Dominion University Sailing Monarchs look to add to their total of 11 national championships when they competeat the ICSA Women's Dinghy National Championships Tuesday in Boston, MA, May29-31. The Monarchs will then compete in the Coed Team Race National Championships, June 3-5 and close out the races June 6-8 at the ICSA Coed DinghyNational Championships in Kingston, Rhode Island.

The Monarchs coed sailing team goes into the national championships asthe number one ranked team by SAILING WORLD magazine, while the women'ssquad is ranked seventh nationally.

Heading the list of probable sailors for the women's National Championshipsare Sally Barkow( Nashotah, WI.), Cara Gibbons-Neff (Annapolis, MD.), Corrie Clement (Metarie, La.) and Liz Bower (Fairport, NY.). Probables for the ICSA Team Race National Championships are Adam Burns (Youngstown, NY.) , Lis Biondi(Norwalk, CT.), Justin Castagne (Maraval, West Indies), Brad Funk (Harbor Bluffs, Fl.), Liz Bower, Emily Ruiter (Freehold, NJ.), Jack Kerr (Seattle, WA.) and Brock Callen (Martha's Vineyard, MA.).

Probable sailors for the Coed Dinghy are Adam Burns (Youngstown, NY.),Lis Biondi (Norwalk, CT.), Brock Callen (Martha's Vineyard, MA.), Brad Funk(Harbor Bluffs, FL.), Emily Ruiter (Freehold, NJ.), and Justin Castagne (Maraval,Trinidad).
