Women's Sailing Finishes Sixth at St. Mary's

ST. MARY's, MD (March 18, 2001) -- The Old Dominion women's sailing team finished in sixth place in the final day of competition at the St. Mary's Women's Intersectional. The Monarchs held the top spot going into the final two B division races, but suffered one capsize and one over-early.

Sally Barkow (Nashotah, WI), Megan Bartley (Oak Park, IL) and Cara Gibbons-Neff (Annapolis, MD) won the A division, while teammates Corrie Clement (Metarie, LA) and Kili Chivers (Hagatna, Guam) finished eighth in B division.

Old Dominion will return to action next weekend, when they host the Aaron Szambecki Team Race.

Monarchs Finish Third at Truxtom Umstead

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Old Dominion sailing team took third place out of 17 competing teams at the Truxtom Umstead regatta.

Finishing in fifth place in the A division was the team of Adam Burns, Brock Callen, Jack Kerr and Lis Biondi, while the B squad of Justin Castagne and Abigail Curran took sixth. Brad Funk took first in the C division and the team of Liz Bower and Ryan Thorvaldsen finished seventh in D division.
