NORFOLK, VA. (June 20, 2000) -- Old Dominion University's sailing squads were ranked in thenation's top ten inthe final SAILING WORLD Collegiate rankings. The Monarchs co-ed squad finishedfifth and thewomen's sailing squad ranks seventh.
Old Dominion qualified for three of the six ICYRA Sailing NationalChampionships. In the fall, BradFunk placed fourth at the ICYRA Singlehanded National Championships. In thespring, the LadyMonarchs finished seventh and the co-ed dinghy squad finished fifth in theirrespective ICYRANational Championships.
Three Monarchs earned All-American honors. Senior Heather Pescatello (Westerly,R.I.) earnedfirst team honors for the third time, while junior Adam Burns (Youngstown, NY.)became a two-timeAll-American. Sophomore Sally Barkow (Nashtoa, WI.) was named honorable mentionAll-American.
