2014-2015: Recorded new school records in both the 100 and 200 butterfly events … Swam the 100 fly in 0:47.09 and the 200 fly in 1:44.65 during the C-USA Championships … Moved into third in the all-time records with a time of 1:49.10 in the 200 individual medley … Finished the 800 freestyle relay in 6:35.06 with Watson, Sa and Mikaelsson (2nd all-time) … Posted a 1:29.35 time in the 200 medley relay good for second all-time and 3:13.77 in the 400 medley relay good for first all-time … Made the 2014 Fall Dean’s List …
2013-2014: Ranks first with an all-time top time of 1:46.13 in the 200 fly … Finished in eighth place with a time of 4:29.89 in the 500 free at the C-USA Championships … Finished fifth in the 400 IM with a time of 3:55.91 at the C-USA Championships.
2012-2013: Made NCAA B-Cut Time in the 200 fly... Placed second at the CAA Championships in the 200 fly, which set an all-time ODU record (1:47.11)... Broke the J.C. "Scrap" Chandler Pool record in the 200-yard butterfly race with a time of 1:51.56.
Prep: Denver Public School's League Champions in 2011 and 2012... Holds record for 100 yard butterfly in Denver Public Schools... All-American consideration for the 200 Individual Medley.
Personal: Son of Thomas and Mary Mathews... Has one brother Owen, and one sister Kelly... Majoring in Engineering... Wants to travel after graduation.
