Transfer from the University of New Orleans...One of three members of the ODU swim time from Iceland...

Medalist at the Small Nations Games in 2009, 2005, 2007, & 2009...Won the 100 free (52.40), 200 free (1:53.50), 50 fly (25.40) and 100 fly (56.50) at the Iceland National Championships in Mar. 2009...Added a second-place finish in the 50 free (24.27)...Qualified for the Small Nation Games in Cyprus (June 2009), winning the gold as part of the 400 free relay team (3:28.80) and placing fourth in the 200 free (1:55.52).

2010-11:
Helped the 200 medley relay team to a third place finish at the CAA Championships in a time of 1:30.01, the second fasted ODU record in the logs...Also came in 10th in the 100 fly with a time of 50.36 and 13th in the 200 back in a time of 1:52.09...

AT NEW ORLEANS: Swam to a fourth place finish in the 100 back and an eighth place finish in the 100 free at the conference meet...Member of the first-ever podium placement for a Privateer relay at the conference meet, joining the 400 medley relay team in finishing third...School-record holder in the 100 fly (48.82) and 200 fly (1:50.84), with both times coming at the conference meet...Member of school-record setting 200 free relay team, accomplishing the mark of 1:24.92 at the Delta State Christmas Invite (12/19)...400 free relay school record team participant, on a unit that swam the event in 3:00.45 at the SBC meet, a whole eight-seconds faster than the previous school-best...The first UNO male to be named SBC Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 12, doing so after having a hand in four event wins and three school records against No. 30 Alabama (11/8)...Against Alabama, Jonsson started his day winning the 200 fly in a school-record time of 1:54.73...He next joined the 200 free relay winning effort, shattering a 17-year old mark with a time of 1:26.37, besting the 1991 Metro Championships entrant from UNO...Picked up first place in the 100 fly (50.73) in a then-school record against Southern Illinois (10/31)...Was the winner in the 200 fly (1:55.20) and 400 medley relay (3:28.08) against DSU (1/24).

Prep: Member of the Icelandic National team...National Age group record holder...Participated in European Junior Championship and European Youth Olympic Games...Best times of 1:55.50 in the Icelandic Championship Long Course in the 200 free...Timed at 1:52.53 in the Icelandic Championships in the short course 200 free...Named Sportsman of the Year in Keflavik, Iceland.
