Drew Lakey

Drew Lakey is beginning his first season as Assistant Coach and Director of Scouting, Video and Analytics.  

In this role, Lakey is responsible for opponent scouts, player development, prospect evaluation, film breakdowns, as well as on-court instruction. On the road for the last two summers and in charge of creating all in-house recruiting presentations, Lakey has directly assisted in landing three of the top five commits and the #1 ranked recruiting class (2024) in ODU history according to 247sports. He facilitated the adoption and application of analytics and advanced statistical data and assists with various operational tasks pertaining to the program. 

Lakey previously served as Video Coordinator for two seasons, and as graduate assistant and head manager for the Monarchs the year immediately following his playing career.
 
As a senior guard for Old Dominion in 2019-20, Lakey appeared in five contests making one start.
 
Prior to transferring to ODU as a graduate student, Lakey walked onto UVA’s team from an open tryout for the 2017-18 season, when the Cavaliers won the ACC tournament and regular season going from unranked to #1 in the AP poll.
 
Lakey graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Government and a Minor in Entrepreneurship (McIntire School of Commerce) and from ODU with a Master’s degree (M.S.) in Sport Management.
