NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion women's basketball team is set to host UNC Wilmington in the ninth annual "Think Pink" game Sunday at the Ted Constant Center. The contest, set to tip at 2 p.m., will be a matchup of two of the top three teams in the Colonial Athletic Association standings.
The game, sponsored by Bon Secours In Motion Physical Therapy and Sports Performance, can be heard on ESPN Radio 94.1 with Tony Mercurio on the play-by-play and Susan Montgomery providing color analysis.
Tickets are $10, and if purchased from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Komen Tidewater affiliate, $5 will go back to the Komen organization to support breast cancer education and research grants. Breast cancer survivors will be provided a complimentary ticket to the game, and are invited to attend the pre-game survivor reception and recognition ceremony on the court prior to tip-off.
All fans are also encouraged to wear pink to the game in support of breast cancer awareness and the first 1,000 fans will receive a pink t-shirt, sponsored by Bon Secours.
Old Dominion (16-7, 10-2 CAA) last played on Thursday, dominating Northeastern 69-44. Sophomore Jackie Cook hit for a career-high 16 points and junior Tia Lewis became just the 29th all-time Lady Monarch to reach the 1,000-point scoring plateau.
UNC Wilmington (18-5, 10-2 CAA) routed William & Mary, 72-48, on Thursday to remain tied with ODU for second in the CAA standings. Senior forward Brittany Blackwell ranks sixth in the CAA in scoring (16.0 ppg) and fifth in rebounding (8.4 rpg).
The Seahawks shoot 46.1 percent from the floor as a team, the best mark in the CAA. UNCW (16.3 apg) and ODU (14.0 apg) are the top two teams in the league in assists per game.
Old Dominion has won all 41 all-time meetings between the squads, ranking as the third longest active winning streak over an opponent in Division I women's basketball.
Activities kick off Sunday at 1 p.m. with a women's health expo and the survivor reception.
