Deztany Jackson Places 11th At PGA Minority Championship

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL.-- Old Dominion University junior Alexis Garduno finished second and Deztany Jackson sixth in the Women's Independent Division of the 22nd PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship.

Garduno shot an 84 today to finish the 54 hole event at 244, nine strokesbehind Sara Young of Florida State who won at 235. Jackson shot an 86today to finish with a total of 272.

A total of 235 contestants from 38 colleges and university comprise thechampionship field. The 54-hole stroke-play Championship consisted offour divisions: NCAA Men's Division I and II, and NAIA Men's and Women's.In addition there were individual competitions for minority men and women.

The individual invitational was open to students who are African-American,Hispanic-American, Native or Alaskan American, Asian or Pacific IslandAmerican.
