NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion field hockey team dropped to No. 13 in the STX/NFHCA Coaches Poll this week, while the squad remained at No. 13 in the Women's Field Hockey.com Poll following a week with losses against top five Connecticut as well as nationally ranked Michigan.
The Lady Monarchs are sitting a 1-4 currently with all four losses coming at the hands of teams featured in both polls - Maryland, Penn State, Michigan, and Connecticut.
Up for the ODU field hockey team this week are road contests at North Carolina, on Friday, September 14th at 6:00 p.m. and Duke on Sunday, September 16th at 1:00 p.m. The Tar Heels, sporting a perfect 6-0 record, moved to No. 1 in the STX/NFHCA Poll surpassing two-time defending champion and fellow ACC rival Maryland, and remains at No. 2 in the Women's Field Hockey.Com Poll. The Blue Devils meanwhile, with a .500 record at 3-3, fell to No. 10 in both lists.
Other upcoming opponents for the Lady Monarchs featured in the STX/NFHCA Poll include a rematch with Maryland, who fell to No. 2 and defending CAA champion, James Madison, who cracks with week's Top 10 with a 4-1 overall mark. Fellow CAA rival Delaware is also featured in the poll at No. 15 with a 6-0 mark.
Other teams receiving votes in STX/NFHCA Poll of note include CAA members William & Mary and Hofstra.
In the Women's Field Hockey.Com Poll, Maryland still tops the list with James Madison moving up in the top ten in the poll to No. 7. Delaware is also listed at No. 15.
The next poll will be released onTuesday, September 18, 2007. The STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll and Women's Field Hockey.Com Poll have no bearing onselection to the 2007 NCAA Division I Championship field.
