NORFOLK, Va. -- Freshman Loren Hatch (Green Lane, Pa.) earned her second Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) weekly award as she was named field hockey's Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 21st.
Hatch scored back-to-back goals within a minute and a half span against No. 8/9 James Madison on Saturday to help the Lady Monarchs to sole possession of first place in the CAA standings. Her goals were the seventh and eighth of the season as she now leads her teammates in the category. Hatch's second goal, the game-winner, was also her team-leading third of the year.
To date, Hatch has 16 points, ranking third on the squad.
Old Dominion will host top-ranked North Carolina in the annual scholarship game on Saturday, October 27th. There will be a five dollar admission (ODU students admitted free with ID) which will benefit the Intercollegiate Foundation For Field Hockey Scholarships. The Lady Monarchs will then close out the 2007 regular season on the road in a conference game. Old Dominion travels to William & Mary on Sunday, October 21st.
