Adrienne Goodson Receives WNBA Offseason Assist Award

SAN ANTONIO-- Former Old Dominion University All-American and current San Antonio SilverStars forward Adrienne Goodson (ODU'88) is the recipient of the WNBA Offseason CommunityAssist Award for the second straight season.

Some of the highlights for Goodson this offseason include participating in more than twentycharitable events ranging from spending time at local schools to delivering Thanksgivingfeasts to those less fortunate.

"As an athlete, one of my personal goals is to do things for the community," Goodson said."It's always a pleasure to give back and I participate because someone did the same thingfor me."

During the regular season, the WNBA Community Assist Award is given out monthly by the leaguewho recognize players for their charitable efforts. Each month all 13 WNBA teams are ableto nominate a player for the award which honors the player who best reflects the league'spassion for making a difference in their communities.

Through programs such as WNBA Breast Health Awareness, WNBA Mind, Body, Spirit and WNBAAchieve, the WNBA has helped to creat a more comprehensive awareness about the importanceof detection of breast cancer, good nutrition, regular exercise, and a positive self-image.

Goodson is currently averaging 9.2 points and 7.1 assists per game for San Antonio. A memberof the ODU Sports Hall of Fame, Goodson scored 1,574 career points which ranks her 11thon ODU's all-time list. She also hauled in 863 career rebounds.
