NORFOLK,VA-- The Old Dominion University athletic department will celebratethe retirement of Gray Simons, Wednesday, May 5 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. inthe athletic administration gymnasium.
Simons, a two-time Olympian and member of seven Hall's of Fame coached atODU for 17 sseasons compiling a 131-106-2 record, and 36 years overall, witha 324-194-5 mark.
In the 17 years at ODU, Simons has coached 28 wrestlers who have qualified fornationals, and five All-Americans. In 1994, the Monarchs captured the CAAChampionship and Simons was named CAA Coach of the Year.
