Men's Soccer 2004 Recruiting Class Ranked #23 by College Soccer News

NORFOLK, VA-Old Dominion University athletic director Jim Jarrettannounced today that men's soccer coach Alan Dawson has been awarded a three-year contract. Dawson, who's Monarchs advanced to the second round of the NCAATournament on a 15-4-1 record, was named the CAA Coach of the Year for the thirdtime in the last five years. He was also the NSCAA/Adidas South Atlantic RegionCoach of the Year which made him a finalist for National Coach of the Year honors.

"My family and I are delighted to continue to make the Hampton Roads community our home," said Dawson. "We are particularly excited about the directionof the University and the commitment to the future of the soccer program made byDr. Jarrett."

This past season the Monarchs finished 15-4-1 and advanced to the second roundof the NCAA tournament for the second straight year. ODU won its first 14 games and was the last NCAA Division I team to give up a goal through its first ninematches. Old Dominion ranked as high as second nationally on Oct. 7 and remained therefor three consecutive weeks.

Dawson has compiled a 202-77-1 career record and is 83-47-9 at ODU throughseven seasons. Dawson was CAA Coach of the Year in 1999, 2001 and 2003.
