Cahana Advances To Semi-Finals At Cissie Leary Invite

NORFOLK, VA -- Junior Nataly Cahana (Quriat Balik, Israel) took one step closer to retaining her Cissie Leary Invitational title with a round of 32 victory over Leigh Ann Merryman of Penn State, 6-3, 6-0. Cahana, ranked #11 by the ITA Preseason Poll, is the top seed at this year's invitational.

Two other Lady Monarchs participated in the invitational held by the University of Pennsylvania. Both freshman Coralie Herrmann (Porrentruy, Switzerland) and senior Julia Sotiriu (Wendelstein, Germany)fell in the round of 64. Herrmann fell to Shelly Mittal of Columbia, 6-2, 6-4, while Sotiriu was defeated by Melissa Nguyen, also from Columbia, 6-1, 6-2.

Herrmann and Sotiriu also teamed up for the doubles competition. They lost a 8-1 decision to the tandem of Maaria Hussin and Leigh Ann Merryman of Penn State.
