Wilson's Home Run Helps Tribe Defeat Monarchs, 5-3

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. (May 11) - Charles Wilson broke a three-all tiewith a solo homerun to lead off the bottom of the eighthand gave the Tribe of William and Mary a 5-3 victory overOld Dominion University May 11 at Plumeri Park.William and Mary is now 29-21 overall, 7-12 in the CAA and ODU drops to 30-20-1overall and 12-7 in the CAA.

The Tribe took a 3-0 lead an on rbi single by Wilson in thefirst inning and a two-run single by Tim Jones in the fourth.

In the top of the seventh senior outfielderJason Greiner (Wexford, Pa.) slammed a two-run homerwith Joe Troilo (Avondale, Pa.)aboard to cut the lead toone. With one out and the bases loaded, Tim Hummel groundedout into a force play but beat the return throw to firstallowing Travis Silver (Weaverville, NC.) to score the tying run.

In the eighth, Wilson led off with a home run andBrian Rogers scored on a double by Michael Brown to makeit 5-3.

Travis Silver and Brian Ross (Chesapeake, Va.) led theMonarchs with two hits each, while Stephen Booker, CharlesWilson, Robert Jones and Tim Jones all had two hits eachfor the Tribe. Neither Tim Hummel(Montgomery, NY.) or Jared Musolf (Lakehurst,NJ.) had a hit. Musolf is now at .409 andHummel is hitting .400.

The Monarch's J.D.Jackson walked two and gave up 11 hits on the night,while Ben Shepard came in in the seventh with the bases loaded and eventuallypicked up the win forthe Tribe. He fanned four in two plus innings of work.
