No. 14 Wake Forest Defeats Old Dominion, 14-5

NORFOLK, VA. (May 10) - The 14th ranked Deamon Deacons of Wake Forest Universitypounded out 21 hits and slammed five home runs May 10 to defeat the Monarchs of OldDominion University, 14-5. Wake Forest is now 37-14-1 , while the Monarchs dropto 30-19-1.

Old Dominion tied the game at four in the bottom of the fourth inning afterseniorJason Greiner (Wexford, Pa.) hit a three-run shot with Ross Robertson(Chesapeake, Va.) and fellow senior Joe Troilo (Avondale, Pa.) aboard.

Wake Forest came right back in the fifth as Dan Conway scored on a Monarcherrorto take a 5-4 lead. Corey Sullivan led the Deacons charge with four hits infive at batsand three runs batted in. He slugged two lead-off homers, one in the sixth togive WFUa 6-4 lead and one in the ninth. In the second inning, Carlos Brackley andRickyMendez hit back-to-back solo homers. Chase Voshell led off the third inningwitha solo homerun.

Dan Conway and Voshell each had three hits for Wake Forest, while CarlosBrackley joined Sullivan with three runs batted in. Seven WFU players had two ormore hits.

The Monarchs loaded the bases in the first inning, scoring one run as JeffEure (Pillow, Pa.) singled to score Brent Sollenberger (Chambersburg, Pa.). Thefifth andfinal Monarch run came in the sixth as John Oehler (Audubon, NJ.) singled homeJason Greiner.

Old Dominion travels up the road to Williamsburg, Va. for their final CAAregularseason series with William and Mary on Thursday beginning at 7 p.m. Wake Foresthost Georgia Tech in their final ACC regular season series beginning Friday at 2p.m.
