Monarch Baseball Earns National Ranking

NORFOLK, VA -- Old Dominion's baseball team is ranked 29th in the nation as rated by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper today. The Monarchs (27-16-1) started the season 2-9 but have since gone 25-7 and are winners of eight straight.

Old Dominion is fresh off a successful week in which they walloped ACC-foe NC State, 12-2, before sweeping No. 21 East Carolina in three games over the weekend. The Monarchs have won six straight conference games, with two wins over NC State sandwiched in-between, during their eight-game streak.

The team is 12-6 in the CAA, currently just one game behind conference leader UNC Wilmington. On Monday, the Monarchs are in action against Virginia Commonwealth at 7 pm in Manteo, NC, at Coy Tillet Stadium, the site of the 2000 CAA Baseball Championships. Earlier this season, the Monarchs swept Virginia Commonwealth in a three-game weekend set.
