Rutgers Beats Monarchs, 9-1

NORFOLK, VA. (Feb. 26) - Sophomore lefthander Buddy Gallagher pitched a completegame four-hitter to lead the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers to a 9-1 victory overOld Dominion University on Feb. 26. Rutgers is now 3-2, while theMonarchsdrop to 2-7-1. Gallagher walked two and fanned seven on the day.

The Monarchs lone run came in the eighth as Jared Musolf (Lakehurst, NJ.)walkedthen moved to second on Joe Troilo's (Avondale, Pa.)single. Jason Greiner(Wexford, Pa.) moved them up on a groundout and Musolf scored on the rbi groundout byTravis Silver (Asheville, NC.). Tim Hummel (Montgomery, NY.) led the Monarchswith two hits, but sophomore Jeff Eure (Pillow, PA.) had his eight game hittingstreakstopped. He leads the team with a .359 batting average.

Third baseman Jake Daubert knocked in four runs for Rutgers with a two-rundouble in the first inning and a two-run homer in the fourth. Shortstop DarrenFenster had three hits and two runs batted in and Todd Speedy hit a solo homerin the fourth right after Daubert hit his.

The two teams complete the three-game series Feb. 27 beginning at 1p.m.
