NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women's lacrosse head coach Lauren Gunning has hired Zoe Coleman as an assistant coach, Gunning announced on Monday. Coleman comes to ODU after four years of playing experience at Ohio State University.
"We're excited to welcome Zoe Coleman to our coaching staff. Zoe competed at the highest level in the Big Ten at Ohio State and brings a tremendous passion for teaching the game," said Gunning. "She thrives on individual skill development and has a unique ability to help players grow with confidence."
Coleman was a four-year standout attacker at Ohio State, where she played in 65 career games and made 39 starts. She finished her career with 79 goals, 27 assists, and 106 points. As a senior, she totaled 31 points on 24 goals and seven assists while starting all 17 games.
Coleman earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with a specialization in marketing and a minor in fashion and retail studies. She was a four-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete, a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection (2024-26) and was named to the 2025 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.
Prior to Ohio State, Coleman was a standout at Bishop Watterson High School, earning US Lacrosse All-America honors, two Under Armour All-America selections, and three all-state honors. She graduated as her school's all-time leader in goals (304), assists (127), and points (431) while helping lead the program to its first two state final four appearances. A multi-sport athlete, she was also a member of a state championship field hockey team and excelled in the classroom as a National Honor Society member, four-year Honor Roll student, and Scholar-Athlete.
"Zoe is a true student of the game, constantly learning and looking for ways to improve herself and those around her," Gunning added. "Her work ethic, energy, and commitment to player development make her a perfect fit for the culture we're building at Old Dominion, and I know she'll make an immediate impact on our student-athletes."
