KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Old Dominion’s Ashlynn Kulha has made the Hermann Trophy NCAA Division I Watch List, the United Soccer Coaches and the IWSOC announced on Wednesday.
The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation’s highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by voting of Division I head coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. It is named in honor of the late Robert Hermann.
The 2026 watch list was compiled by members of the Division I Women’s All-America Council from a list of returning 2025 All-Americans and First Team All-Region players. A total of 15 players will be named 2026 Hermann Trophy semifinalists on December 4 at the conclusion of NCAA Division I All-American voting. From that list, head coaches will cast votes, and three players will be named finalists. The 2026 recipient will be announced January 8, 2027, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis, Mo.
Kulha was the first-ever Sun Belt women’s soccer player to earn back-to-back Sun Belt Defender of the Year awards this past season. She has now been awarded Sun Belt Preseason Defender of the Year in back-to-back seasons and was named to the Sun Belt Preseason Team. She also was selected to the All-Southeast Regional Team by the United Soccer Coaches.
In all games played during last year’s regular season, ODU ranked second in the Sun Belt in total goals allowed (17) and goals against average (.94). ODU’s ranking stayed the same in conference games and the Monarchs were tied for second in goals allowed (9) and goals against average (.90). ODU had a +20 goal differential over 18 games played and in conference contests ODU has a +13 goal differential.
