NORFOLK, Va. – The NCAA announced the teams and individuals selected to participate in this year’s Division I Women’s Golf Championship Regionals on Wednesday and Old Dominion women's golfer Barbara Car will be headed to Simpsonville, Kentucky to play in the Louisville Regional.

The Louisville Regional will be held at the University of Louisville Golf Club. Regional play will take place on May 11-13 at six regional sites, with 396 participants and each site featuring 12 teams and six individuals. The top five teams (30 teams total) and the low individual not on an advancing team (six individuals total) from each regional site will advance to compete in the national championships, scheduled for May 22-27 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. Championship play will be hosted by Texas, with the final three days of the championships televised live on the GOLF Channel.

In addition to Louisville, this year’s other regional sites include Ann Arbor, Chapel Hill, Stanford, Tallahassee, and Waco.

The 12 teams that will compete in the Louisville Regional, in order of seeding, are Arkansas, Auburn, Iowa State, Mississippi, Houston, Virginia Tech, Kansas State, Indiana, College of Charleston, Xavier, Western Kentucky, and Murray State. Other at-large individuals include Eila Galitsky and Maylis Lamoure from South Carolina, Maria Jose Barragan from BYU, Isabella Johnson from Tennessee, and Sloane Biddle from Belmont.

Car, a sophomore from Vodice, Slovenia, was the individual medalist at last week’s Sun Belt Conference Championship as she won the tournament with a seven-under par 209. She went into the final round of stroke play tied for fifth at one-under 143. She then made six birdies, including four on the front nine, for a final round of six-under 66. The 66 marked the lowest single-round score in Sun Belt Wimen's Golf Championship history at Lakewood Golf Club. She also earned All-Tournament Team honors for finishing in the Top 6.

This will also be the third time in the last six years that a Monarch will be playing in a Regional. Leah Onosato became the first women's golfer in program history to win a conference championship individual title, winning the Sun Belt in 2023. She received an automatic bid to the Palm Beach Gardens Regional, where she finished tied for 43rd with a 13-over par 229. Prior to that, Onosato received an at-large bid and was the top-seeded individual at the 2021 Columbus Regional. She opened with a two-under par 70 before finishing tied for 55th.
