NOROLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s lacrosse opens its 2026 season on the road against Youngstown State on Sunday Feb. 8 at noon at the Farmers National Bank Field. This will be the first meeting between the Monarchs and Penguins.

"We're so excited for this year's squad to take the field for the first time together on Sunday," head coach Theresa Walton said. "We have had a great preseason with consistent focus, intention, and grit. I'm most excited to see how they play as great teammates."

ODU went 8-9 last year and were picked to finish eighth in the American Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. The Monarchs are entering the season with 29 returners, adding 11 freshmen to the 40 woman roster as head coach Theresa Walton enters into her third year. Goalkeeper Brynn Bowen was also named to the preseason all-conference team.

ODU’s leading returning goal scorer is Alex Kulinski who had 27 goals and six assists, while Ella Bowen had 16 goals and three assists.

Brynn Bowen started all 17 games in net and had 122 saves.

YSU returns leading goal scorer Ava Kreutzer who had 27 goals and one assist in 2025, while Brooke Peck had 25 goals and five assists.

Penguin goalie Brooke Harper started 11 games in goal and had 124 saves.

"The first game always comes with a lot of excitement, I hope to see how our preparation from the fall and preseason translates to jersey time to set the tone this year," Walton said.
