NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s basketball is looking to ride a two-game win streak into its final two home games of the 2025-26 regular season. The Monarchs take on Coastal Carolina in the Battle of the Beach on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. before installing a new edition in the TowneBank Royal Rivalry against James Madison on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, Feb. 14 at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.

Both games will be streamed on ESPN+. Matthew Hatfield and Shonda Deberry can be heard on Fox Sports Radio 1310 AM and live stats will also be available.

Wednesday marks a doubleheader for the Monarchs with the ODU men’s basketball team hosting Marshall at 7:30 p.m. Fans with tickets to one of the games will be able to watch both.

ALL-TIME SERIES & LAST TIME OUT:

Old Dominion leads the all-time series against Coastal Carolina, 3-2. The Monarchs last saw the Chanticleers on Feb. 26, 2025 where double-doubles by Simone Cunningham and Brenda Fontana helped propel Old Dominion to victory as the Monarchs defeated Coastal Carolina 81-65.

The Monarchs hold a 52-32 advantage in the all-time series against James Madison. The Silver and Blue trailed by only six points midway through the fourth quarter, but James Madison pulled away down the stretch as the Monarchs fell 66-53 in the TowneBank Royal Rivalry game on Feb. 15, 2025.

ABOUT ODU:

The Monarchs are coming off back-to-back wins over Louisiana (72-61) in Sun Belt action and Ohio (84-76) in the second round of the MAC-SBC Challenge. The Silver and Blue’s Net Ranking sits at 143 and Old Dominion is sixth in the conference standings.

The Monarchs are ranked the 10th best shot blocking team in the nation and are number one in the Sun Belt averaging 5.6 blocks per game. Junior transfer forward Riley Stack has the third most blocks in Division I and is seventh in the nation and first in the Sun Belt with 2.64 blocks per game. Cunningham’s 23 blocks are good for eighth in the conference.

ODU is tied for 21st in Division I in total rebounding (42.24) and is 29th in offensive rebounding output (15.1 orpg). The Monarchs have the third best rebounding offense (42.24) in the Sun Belt and are shooting 72.0% from the free throw line this year to rank second in the SBC.

Old Dominion holds opposing teams to 37.0% shooting from the field, which is good for 38th in Division I and is the best in the conference. Buford has 59 steals this season, which is tied for fourth in the SBC, Simaru Fields ranks seventh in the conference with 52.

ABOUT COASTAL CAROLINA:

The Chanticleers are 11-14 and sit in 10th in the Sun Belt with a conference record of 4-8. CCU is led by head coach Kevin Pederson in his fourth season in Conway, S.C. The Chants are on a three-game losing streak as they make their way to Norfolk for the Battle of the Beach on Wednesday. Coastal Carolina has a Net Ranking of 134.

Tessa Grady leads the Chanticleers with 14.0 ppg and 69 three-pointers, she is followed by Kristin Williams’ 13.5 ppg. Kinsea Grimes and Tracey Hudson are tied for first on the Chants with 6.5 rpg, Grimes ranks third on the team with 11.8 ppg and Hudson ranks fourth with 11.1 ppg.

Coastal Carolina averages 74.8 ppg and conceded 66.2 for a +8.6-scoring margin. As a team, the Chants shoot 41.2% from the field, 25.4% from deep, and 68.7% from the charity stripe. On the glass CCU reigns in 40.8 boards per game and holds a +2.9-rebounding margin. Coastal Carolina swipes 10.3 steals per game and swats away 3.8 shots per game.

ABOUT JAMES MADISON:

The Dukes are riding a four-game win streak and match up with App State on Wednesday before gearing up for the Royal Rivalry. JMU has an overall record of 18-8 and are 9-4 in SBC action to rank fifth in the conference. Sean O’Regan is in his 10th season at the helm with the Dukes.

Peyton McDaniel ranks 36th in the nation and is first on the Dukes with 18.9 ppg and ranks second on the team with 7.4 rpg. Ashanti Barnes ranks second in scoring with 14.4 ppg and ranks first in rebounds with 9.1 rpg. JMU has started the same lineup for all 26 of its games, with Bree Robinson, Zakiya Stephenson, and Grace McDonough rounding out the starting five. Robinson averages 11.3 ppg, followed by Stephenson’s 8.1 ppg, and then McDonough’s 6.1 ppg.

James Madison scores an average of 74.7 ppg and concedes 63.5 for a +11.2-scoring margin. The Dukes shoot 44.5% from the field, 31.3% from behind the arc, and 66.5% from the free throw line. JMU grabs 42.3 rpg and has a +8.7-rebounding margin. The Dukes make 3.8 blocks per game and snag 9.1 steals per game.
