NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s basketball looks to return to winning ways when ODU takes on ULM on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m. and Southern Miss on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m.

Both games will be streamed on ESPN+. Matthew Hatfield and Shonda Deberry can be heard on Fox Sports Radio 1310 AM and live stats will also be available. ODU’s game promotion for the ULM contest is Super Hero Day. The Silver and Blue will turn pink for Saturday’s game against Southern Miss with Play4Kay and National Girls & Women in Sports Day.

ALL-TIME SERIES & LAST TIME OUT:

ODU leads ULM, 4-0 in the all-time series. Last time out Old Dominion women’s basketball held off the Warhawks for a 72-68 final on a Saturday, Jan. 4 afternoon at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. En’Dya Buford led the way with 18 points on 5-for-12 shooting from the field. She also made her only shot from beyond the arc and sank 7-of-9 free throw attempts.

ODU leads USM, 8-4 in 12 games played between the two programs. The last time the two sides matched up Simone Cunningham recorded a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double, Buford added a 12-point effort, and Old Dominion women’s basketball picked up a 65-47 win in Hattiesburg, Miss.

ABOUT ODU:

ODU is looking to take advantage of a strong home record of 9-2 after falling to 2-4 on the road this season and back-to-back losses at Arkansas State (84-55) and Texas State (65-61). Old Dominion will have two final home games on Feb. 11 and Feb. 14 against Coastal Carolina and James Madison, respectively. ODU sits in 7 in the Sun Belt and has a NET Ranking of 144.

The Monarchs are tied for the 14th best shot blocking team in the nation and are number one in the Sun Belt averaging 5.7 blocks per game. Junior transfer forward Riley Stack is eighth in the nation and first in the Sun Belt with 53 blocks. Cunningham’s 23 blocks are good for eighth in the conference.

ODU is tied for 30th in Division I in total rebounding (42.0) and is 27th in offensive rebounding output (15.2 orpg). The Monarchs have the third best rebounding offense (42.0) in the Sun Belt and are shooting 71.6% from the free throw line this year to rank third in the SBC.

Old Dominion holds opposing teams to 37.1% shooting from the field, which is good for 51st in Division I and is third best in the conference. Buford has 51 steals this season which is good for fourth in the SBC, Simaru Fields ranks ninth in the conference with 42.

ABOUT ULM:

The Warhawks are coming off back-to-back losses at home against JMU (72-68) and Marshall (82-75). ULM is 11th in the SBC and has a Net Ranking of 167. At the helm is Scott Fletcher in his first season in Louisiana Monroe.

J’Mani Ingram has paced the offense for ULM with 11.5 ppg followed by Nakiyah Mays-Prince’s 9.7 ppg and Marcavia Shavers’ 9.2 ppg. Shavers leads the Warhawks on the boards with 9.2 rpg, Asia Barclay ranks second with 4.9 rpg. Mays-Prince is the leading provider with 84 assists this season (4.4 apg).

As a team, ULM scores 66.2 ppg and concedes 68.1 for a -1.9-scoring margin. The Warhawks shoot 39% from the field, 32.8% from behind the arc, and 68.5% from the free throw line. ULM outrebounds opponents with a +3.9-rebounding margin and grabs 38.4 boards per contest.

ABOUT USM:

The Golden Eagles are on a three-game losing streak and take on Georgia Southern before making their way north to Norfolk for Saturday’s game. Southern Miss is eighth in the conference and has a NET Ranking of 186. Missy Bilderback was formerly the ULM head coach from 2023-25 and is in her first season in Hattiesburg, Miss.

USM has five players averaging double-digit scoring. Leading the way is Jakayla Johnson’s 13.5 ppg, followed by Hayleigh Breland’s 12.7 ppg and Meloney Thames’ 12.2 ppg. Sakiya White ranks fourth on the team with 11.3 ppg and Carly Keats rounds out the scorers with 10.8 ppg. White grabs a team high 7.9 rpg followed by Whitney Hart’s 5.3 rpg.

Southern Miss scores 75.9 ppg and has a +3.1-scoring margin against opponents. The Golden Eagles shoot 42% from the field, 32% from deep, and 73.4% from the charity stripe. USM grabs 39.6 rpg and has a -0.2-rebounding margin this season.

ODU is back on the road and will take on Louisiana for a matchup with the Ragin’ Cajuns on Wednesday, Feb. 4 before heading to Ohio for the second-round matchup on the MAC-SBC Challenge against the Bobcats on Saturday, Feb. 7.
