NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s basketball looks to earn a third win in a row on the road against Arkansas State on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 12 p.m. ODU then heads to San Marcos, Texas for a meeting with the Texas State Bobcats on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 3 p.m.

ALL-TIME SERIES & LAST TIME OUT:

Old Dominion leads the all-time series versus A-State, 2-1. Buford poured in a career-high 32 points and dished out 10 assists and the Monarchs outplayed Arkansas State from the start to the finish to upset the Red Wolves, 95-88, on Feb. 20, 2025 at Chartway Arena.

Texas State leads the all-time series, 2-0. The Bobcats went on a tear that started in the third quarter, outscoring the Monarchs, 40-16 over the last 15 minutes to claim a 65-60 victory over ODU on Jan. 18, 2025 at Chartway Arena.

ABOUT ODU:

The Silver and Blue are coming off back-to-back wins at Chartway Arena against App State (65-54) and an overtime thriller against Marshall (84-82). En’Dya Buford was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week on Tuesday after leading the Monarchs in both games, scoring 18 points against the Mountaineers and 21 against The Herd. Old Dominion sits in sixth position in the Sun Belt and is 131st in the NET rankings.

The Monarchs are the 13th-best shot blocking team in the nation and number one in the Sun Belt averaging 5.7 blocks per game. Junior transfer forward Riley Stack is tied for eighth in the nation and is first in the Sun Belt with 47 blocks. Simone Cunningham’s 20 blocks are good for eighth in the conference and Laila Walker’s 14 blocks are good for 14th in the SBC.

ODU is tied for 27th in Division I in total rebounding (42.58) and is 28th in offensive rebounding output (15.3 orpg). The Monarchs have the second-best rebounding offense (43.24) in the Sun Belt and are shooting 71% from the free throw line this year to rank fifth in the SBC.

Old Dominion holds opposing teams to 36.6% shooting from the field, which is good for 42nd in the nation and tops the conference. Buford has 43 steals this season, which is good for fifth in the SBC, Simaru Fields ranks seventh in the conference with 42.

ABOUT A-STATE:

Arkansas State is 16-4 overall and 7-1 in the SBC to sit atop the conference. A-State is 8-1 at home and is helmed by fourth year head coach Destinee Rogers. The Red Wolves sit at 87th in the NET rankings.

A-State’s leading scorer is Zyion Shannon (13.8 ppg.) followed by Crislyn Rose (11.7 ppg.). Wynter Rogers averages 6.1 ppg. and grabs a team high 7.0 rpg. Mia Tarver is the Red Wolves’ three-point specialist with a team high 51 made deep balls.

Arkansas State holds a +11.3-scoring margin advantage against opponents and scores 78.9 points per game. As a team, A-State shoots 39.0% from the field, 29.1% from behind the arc, and 68.7% from the charity stripe. They also have a +10.3-turnover margin and force 27.7 per contest.

ABOUT TSU:

Texas State is 7-10 overall and 3-4 in the Sun Belt. At home, the Bobcats have a .500 record of 5-5. Zenarae Antoine is the program’s all-time winningest coach and is in her 15th season in San Marcos.

Saniya Burks leads the Bobcats with 15.0 ppg and Krya Anderson ranks second on the team with 11.2 ppg. Anderson grabs a team high 7.8 rpg and Burks has made 39 three-pointers to rank first on the Bobcats. Deja Jones has started every game for TSU and averages 4.7 ppg and 4.4 rpg.

Texas State gives up 63.1 points per game and scores 62.4 ppg as a team. The Bobcats shoot 39.7% from the field, 27.3% from deep, and 68.7% from the free throw line. In the battle of the boards, the Bobcats have a -1.3-margin.
