NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s soccer’s Ashlynn Kulha, Gry Boe Thrysoe, and Andrea Balcazar Algarin have earned United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Honors, the United Soccer Coaches announced on Monday.

Kulha and Thrysoe were selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Second Team and Balcazar was named to the Fourth Team.

Kulha was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row and was an All-Sun Belt First Team selection. The native of Holly Springs, N.C. started every game this season for the Monarchs and scored two goals and provided one assist. She was named a CSC All-Academic selection.

Thrysoe was named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team and scored a career high six goals and provided one assist. The graduate student from Klarup, Denmark was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 7 after an undefeated weekend from the Monarchs. Thrysoe ranks tied for fourth in the Sun Belt with 27 shots and 2.70 shots per game. Her six goals are tied for 10th in the conference and her .30 goals per game is also tied for 10th. She was named to the CSC All-Academic team.

Balcazar scored three goals and provided four assists in 16 games played. Balcazar was named to the All-Sun Belt Third Team. Balcazar, ODU’s senior midfielder, scored three goals in conference play, which are tied for 10th in the conference and her .30 goals per game is also tied for 10th. She has one multiple-point performance which is tied for fifth in the SBC. Her creativity in the midfield is a key reason why ODU ranks first in the Sun Belt in total shots taken.
