NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s basketball hosts the Elizabeth City State Vikings on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Chartway Arena.
The game promotion of the night is National Jersey Day. Fans will be able to watch both games on ESPN+ with Chip Tarkenton providing play-by-play and Kim Aston adding color commentary. Matthew Hatfield and Shonda Deberry can be heard on Fox Sports Radio 1310 AM and live stats will also be available.

ABOUT ODU:
The Monarchs dropped its opening game of the 2025-26 regular season in the MAC-SBC Challenge, 58-52 to UMass. En’Dya Buford led all ODU scorers with 15 points followed by transfer forward Laila Walker’s 14. ODU played 14 players and had nine scorers on the night. Simone Cunningham grabbed 11 boards with seven offensive rebounds and seven points.
Buford and Cunningham were both selected to All-Sun Belt Preseason teams. Buford was named to the first team and Cunningham made the third team. Encouraging signs of an ODU turnaround. The Monarchs had its highest scoring quarter against UMass in the fourth quarter (22). There were more points in the final quarter than the first two quarters combined (21).
The Monarchs have been integrating eight newcomers. The incoming class made an impact with two of ODU’s newest arrivals making the team’s starting five (Riley Stack, Nevaeh Scott). The newcomers compiled over 75 minutes on the floor.
Old Dominion grabbed 20 offensive rebounds and 40 total rebounds. On the defense end, ODU snagged 11 steals and had six blocks in its opening game. At the free throw line, ODU shot 75% on 12 attempts.
ABOUT ECSU:
The Vikings are opening their season against the Monarchs. They have 14 newcomers and two returning players. Sophomore guards Jada Clark and Jasmine Jackson are the lone returners. Clark made one start last season and had 23 appearances, she averaged 2.7 points per game and .7 rebounds per game while shooting 47.1% from the floor. Jackson made two appearances for ECSU and logged 15 minutes of action. She scored eight points in that time, averaging four points per game, and grabbed three total rebounds.
Last season, the Vikings averaged 58.6 points per game on 39% shooting from the field. They averaged 4.4 threes per game and shot 27% from deep. At the charity stripe, the team averaged 10.1 free throws per game and shot 63%. ECSU averages 36 rebounds, 13 assists, 22 turnovers, 9.4 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game.
